Had a similar problem, and found out that install only worked with an older driver. Tried out five different version IIRC, and only two worked. I use a 2.6.12 kernel, and to install It's the nForce audio driver that's causing problems. (I'm using an nForce4 chipset on a Gigabyte K8NF-9 motherboard, btw.) - Alex.

Have you installed the chipset drivers and utility drivers from the CD that came with the mobo? like i said, i have used the latest certified/whql drivers just found out that the nvidia nforce4 parallel ata controller is also being accessed by the nvata driver, so the chipset driver package installed the nvata
